Chalobah Poised to Step in for Marc Guehi in Three Lions Selection

Chelsea defender in action

The Chelsea star emulated his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the 21st duo of siblings to be selected for the England side.

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to link up with the Three Lions selection to replace unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old footballer is set to link up with the team for England's final World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, although it has not yet been confirmed.

The national side have already secured qualification for next summer's tournament.

Chalobah earned his first invitation under England manager Thomas Tuchel in May and then played his first game against the Senegalese team.

In September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unfortunate to be excluded from the team for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and additionally didn't call him up for the subsequent October international break.

Tuchel has been an key presence in Chalobah's progress, having handed him his Chelsea first appearance in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in all but four fixtures for Chelsea this season, with the team third in the English top flight, in the EFL Cup last eight and in the group stage of the European competition.

Guehi sustained a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Europa Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are set to be additional call-ups to the squad. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will be unavailable from the squad.
