19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from spring of 2023.

The win also means he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had led some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better service.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
