Golf England Urgently Requests Treasury Funding for the year 2030 Women's Golf Showcase Hosting Proposal
The most recent European vs US women's golf contest taking place in Europe was in Spain last year, while the upcoming tournament set for Holland in 2026.
After the latest Ryder Cup victory, England Golf is pressing UK authorities to guarantee its bid to stage the Solheim Cup in the country for the first time.
This elite tournament between the top women players from Europe and the United States has taken place twice in Scotland as well as once in Wales but never on English territory. A bid has been put together to hold it at the Grove venue in Hertfordshire in 2030.
But coordinators require thirty million pounds to support the bid and at present only £10m has been secured. England Golf is requesting government funding to cover the shortfall.
Financial Requirements and Timeline
Negotiations to secure Treasury backing started earlier this year but a decision on whether backing will be granted is time-sensitive. The hosting rights for the 2030 event are owned by the International Management Group who demand an answer by the end of this month.
As stated in the proposal papers, the organizing committee maintains that a successful bid "provides substantial returns to the nation".

The venue has organized major golf events and offers accommodation options commensurate with the needs to stage an event such as the Solheim Cup.
Financial Details
To host the men's tournament in Europe needs more than £400m but for the Solheim Cup the cost is approximately thirty million pounds.
"We're looking for circa £20m from the government to support the bid," the representative declared.
"And that's to add to already a significant investment from both venue and our organization as well as other partners we intend to invest."
Urgent Timeline
The representative declined to confirm that discussions are at a standstill, but confirmed: "There is definitely a dilemma presently concerning whether the government can finance premier competitions."
"They have shown, from international sports, whether it be women's sports events, that they are prepared to invest public money for certain events."
"I think if we could get supportive decision within the next month, we would be able to secure the tournament for England."
He finished: "I don't have the money at present; our proposal cannot proceed. This could alter tomorrow if I got approval, however the timeline is on a tight time frame."
Official Stance
Official pre-election commitments prior to the recent election promised dedication to organizing premier competitions and seeking new opportunities to encourage the next generation of players while promoting exercise and healthy living.
When approached for comment, a spokesman from the relevant ministry said: "The UK has a world-leading reputation for staging significant competitions and we intend that to continue."
"Organizing competitions within the country motivates communities, encourages participation and strengthens community prosperity."
"We have a strong pipeline of tournaments over the coming years, such as women's sports two years from now through to supporting a bid to host the Fifa Women's World Cup in 2035."
"Backing for upcoming proposals will depend on a range of criteria particularly how effectively they help create public and economic returns to the nation."
